I’ve been to many garage sales over the years and I buy at least 1 thing from 3 out of every 4 garage sales. But 1 in every 8 to 10 garage sales, I buy everything!!!
What’s the difference? PRICE!!!
Garage Sale Type #1
Good prices, clean items, everything priced, lots of hand made signs, tables, sorting, organizing, 2 weeks of prep, 3 days manning the sale, $$$$ in your pocket.
Garage Sale Type #2
Cheap, cheap, cheap! Everything still laid out but not on tables, no cleaning or very little. NO PRICES, just watch and tell people as they look at a few items. Trust me. They’ll know right away what kind of pricing you have and once they know that everything is “To Go” prices, they’ll load up.
So you might be thinking, “but I don’t want to give all my stuff away?”. Well here’s the thing, what’s your time worth? Would you be making more money at work? Just how valuable is your weekend time? I’m just saying that if you spend 3 days and get an extra $200, is it worth it? Money or Time? You can only pick one.
If you’re willing to put in the effort, we have lots of blogs here for tips on how to maximize your time and where you’ll get the most value. But if you want the down and dirty version, throw it out there, post it on Glickin, ONE DAY ONLY!!! and that’s that. Have a beer/wine, meet your neighbours, enjoy watching people walk away happy and move on with your life. The stress of the clutter will melt off you and you’ll feel so good to purge. That amazing garage sale purge. Mmmmm yeah!!!!
